i am new to this message room and new to Jeep. I am considering a J10, 1987 but I wonder what is the difference between the J10 and Comanche? :?: Any information?

J10 is based on a full size jeep (fsj wagoneer) while the comanche is based on the cherokee design. Both are good reliable trucks but the j10 will have a beefier drive train and most likely a V8. Although there were some comanche's, according to JP magazine, that left the factory with front and rear d44 but I don't know of this to be true for both front and rear. I have seen these with rear d44's.

You stole my name!

MJ (Commanche) never came with front D44, but did have a rear D44 in the metric ton package. The short-box MJ's are cool, can be found with the 4.0L or the 2.5L, which has 4.10 axle gears.

Personal preference, wether you want fullsize (J10) or smaller (MJ). The full-time 4wd in the J10 is prone to viscous coupling failure in the transfer case.

Thanks for setting me straight there B.H.
