I only removed the one between the air box and the throttle body. It made a difference on my lil 4 banger. Not a huge difference, but noticeable, especially in 5th gear.
I didn't realize the front tube restricted airflow. Did you just yank the whole piece out? That piece allows the intake to get air from the front of the Jeep instead of the hotter air under the hood. As much as my Jeep likes the cold weather I can't help but to wonder if that would be pointless to remove it, but I'll give it a try.
 

Yeah, I pulled it out. I actually keep it in the Jeep so when I get the urge to play in water and mud, I just put it back together. Give it a try. Wohat have you got to lose?
 
Good idea on keeping it for the wet stuff. I hope to find the time to make a snorkel one of these days and it won't be an issue!
 
Wheels and Tires, Power and a couple other n00b questions...

i really want to see what one of these home made snorkels look like so mayhap i can take matters into my own hands
