Installing an air horn in my YJ?

any momentary pushbutton switch will work... if you go to a parts store, ask for a horn switch, if not, ask for a starter button

xj fender...

OK, went to OSH and got me a doorbell button! Will install it this or next weekend. Thanks for the help.

BTW: tried to put by soft top on today and man, it is stubborn. Just won't go on. Anyone have any ideas? My guess is it just shrunk a bit in the summer heat. Tips anyone?

Thanks

What position was it stored in?I hang mine over a rack in my garage so it doesn't wrinkle and such.Could be the heat man.Get another set of hands, sure helps me a lot. :D

Yeah, it was floded up for 5 months. haha I'm got it almost on, I'm just gonna leave it like that for a while and see if it stretches out.

Hello, is there anyone in here?

The doorbell button will work fine. I used one for the second "Hooga" horn on my '83 scrambler. I played with the position using double side sticky tape before I drilled any holes on the dash and routed the wires, just to make sure it was in a comfortable place.

bearing nut size??????

Does anyone have a diagram of the horn? Their isn't one in the service manual. I need to find out what color the horn wire is and where it comes out inside the Jeep under the steeering column. Thanks.

If you plan on needing other info for the Jeep, AllData is a great site to check out. They are a sub scription service that gives you access to the factory service manual's information, including complete electrical schematics.

swing by the auto parts store and just look through some wiring diagrams in a haynes manual and take some notes... its free!

Yeah, I have haynes service manual and it has everything there is electrical EXCEPT the horn. haha

It's OK though, I found a new way to do it. The horn is working again (I returned the air-horn because I didn't want to spend $40...hehe). What I did was cut the horn wire about 2 feet from the factory horn and sautered(spelling?) the two lines to some wire and ran that through under the dash and drilled a hole under the gauges and attached the wire to a push button I bought. Pretty nifty.

Thanks all for your help.
