In case you're bored...

i just had to put a new yoke on my dana 30 so i could re-install the front drive shaft and i just threw it on, should i have tightened it to any specs? if i dont what will happen?

General info. not D-30 specific, but general for most Dana diffs. With the tires off and the brake drums off, driveshaft disconnected, turn the yoke by hand. Should turn pretty easy. The torque to rotate the yoke should be in the 15-30 inch pound range, with the big nut installed. There should be no, in and out play (end play) on the pinion shaft/yoke.
The torque for the yoke nut is variable or what is needed to achieve the proper bearing pre-load. The bearings too tight and they overheat, to loose and the pinion/ring gear match becomes harmonic, usually resulting in a howl.
