Ok I am trying to put in a webber carb for a 88 YJ with the
4.2 has anyone done this there are so many wires running to
the carb that I don't know which I will use and which ones will
not be used any more......HELP ME PLEASE :-( [addsig]
Never done it, can't help. I do know a lot of local jeepers have trouble with the weber, not that good of a conversion. Better to use a Motorcraft 2150, much better running carb, especially at angles.[addsig]
Good friend of mine has an '88 with the Weber, everbody he talks to is in agreement that it's not a very good conversion/mod, lots of headaches and not that great of performance.
Not sure if the Motorcraft carb will bolt to the YJ 258, but it does in the CJ's, I don't know if there are any differences in the intake manifold between the two.
I have had no problems with my Weber. There shouldn't be too many wires. Just about 3 or 4 wires to one clip for the stepper motor which will not be used and one wire with a connector on the end usually brown that will go to the electric choke. Unless you mistaking vacuums tubes for wires?[addsig]
I wish that I could help you but I know nothing about a Webber. I'm still working with my Carter. My uncle switched to a Holly 350 two barrell. I think the Motocraft carb is actually similar if not the same as a Holly. That is probably what I will get. I hope you can get it all together soon. See you on Sunday![addsig]
