I Hope You'll Help Me Make a Good Decision

I'm soon (06/09) going to be shopping for a 1995 YJ with I6 and 5-speed. As I've never bought a Jeep before, are there any *particular* things I should be watching out for -- things that would be a No-Buy-Signal if I found them? Thanks.

This should answer some of your questions. As to more specific on a YJ's quirks some here might know better than I, but this thread should get you going.

Make sure to check all fluids, i.e. transmission, oil, and brakes, for leaks. Be sure to check the frame to look for rust. If you can see a whole then it is a "no go". Well at least for me. Pull up the carpet and take a quick peek to see what kind of condition the floorboards are in. If you can weld and have the equipment then holes should not be to much of a problem. Play with the clutch a little bit to see if there is any play in it.

Check for notchy shifting, if it doesn't shift smoothly from gear to gear the synchros will likely go out.
