My jeep lost all its power one day and I cant get it back. I cannot go over 45 mph. I have no idea why but my jeep has an exhaust rattle some suspension bs a messed up master cylinder(just found out today) but other then that fine. The only off roading I have done has been just cruising in 14 inches of water. My jeep feels like it is running off of a lawnmower engine. Give me some suggestions I am ****ed if i can figure this out in the next 2 days.:bomb::(:(

-Would I be engine compression???
-When I step on the gas the rpms dont go up so its not the clutch. its making a very loud noise like my exhaust is messed up. i can hear my exhaust rattle when i slow down.
-When I am driving it feels like a can pass this point because someone is -------holding the brakes just enough but when I but it in N is just cruise like normal.
-I can feel it nudge when I am driving as in like slow down then pickup a tiny bit then slow down. I cant make it up a hill going over 10.

not sure about the rattling in the muffler (Could it be rattling in the engine?), but if you've been runnin around in water, pull your spark plugs and check them. You may have fouled some out and she's not firing on all 6. (Could you have got water in the air intake?) Sounds like the engine is missing causing it to hesitate.

Did it start acting like this after you went through the water?

I know 14 inches isn't all that deep but how fast were you going? Check your plugs like Jeeper99 mentioned. You may want to change you fluids too some water may have seeped in where you don't want it. It could also be the tps is fouled now too.

You might have a catalytic convertor going bad. When mine started going (before I finally took it off) it would cause my "95 4-banger to lose power. And it rattled when it went bad.

From my understanding the headers on the 4.0's are prone to cracking. Maybe if water splashed up into your engine bay? If the exhaust gases aren't making it to the o2 sensor, whether from a crack or being loose, the engine will run horrible.

I think you'll just have to roll around under your jeep, looking for exhaust leaks.

If you put a rag over your exhaust pipe can you kill the running engine (exhaust nice and tight), or does it just run fine?

I figured it out the lucky winner is drum roll please......jbdayojeep. my cat was plugged up. I hollowed it out and didn't put the muffler on for a few hours, WOW that is amazing! Tomorrow morning I will put the muffler on and take it over 30 miles an hour to try and comfier everything but it feels allot better.

I hope i didn't speak to soon. but it really seemed like my power was back(at least alot more, like i said i did not want to be driving in public with no cat or muffler(police suck in MN).

Nitrous my man, if that doesn't work then it probably is your cat. Imagine how fast you could run if you were plugged up somewhere.....
