horn button assemble?

I was recently reassembling my steering column (see loose steering column problem in this forum...solved with help from Sound_Man) and the nylon horn button and spring jumped out while I was reassembling. I tried spring, plunger (with large diameter inside hole) nylon spacer...and the horn was on all the time. I tried spacer, sprng and plunger going through spacer and spring...horn did not sound at all. I realize this is child's play for anyone who has taken one apart before (mine took itself apart)...any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What spring are we talking about here? The one under the cup that the horn button snaps onto? Large falt spring? Like the one in this pic?

Mine will only go in one way and then the cup sits right on top of it with the slot for the horn button towards the top. Then the nylon insulator that is held in with 3 screws. There is a spring loaded post that touches the bottom of the cup, it is the hot for the horn. If it is being grounded the horn will sound constantly. That spring loaded post has to go through one of the holes in the large flat spring.

Sound Man,
Thanks again. If I would actually look at the picture in the book, I would see the nice exploded view drawing and figure it out myself. Of course I found the jeep repair manual drawing after reading your answer and fixing the horn. Thanks again.
