high hc ppm

on my 93 jeep cherokee i have high hc ppm its reading 225 i need it to go to 220 how can i get that down also i had no gas when i did it (gas light was on) help me out plz

I'm assuming that this is for smog reasons. 225 parts per million hydrocarbon may be due to a dirty t.body and or lack of ignition burn in the chamber. Try cleaning the t.body and throw a set of new spark plugs on it and get it re-checked.

Is your 02 sensor ok? An exhaust leak will cause it to read lean and add more fuel bumping up the hc count. Check your manifold they are prone to cracking. Make sure all your vaccum lines are ok and your intake air temp sensor is clean. Also a coolant temp sensor if faulty will cause it to run rich.
