Hi-Lift mount

I'll be mounting my Hi-Lift this week, I think I'm going to mount it on the rear bumper even though the front mount seems to be the prefered setup. Any real drawbacks to rear mounting it? (besides a slight reduction in departure angle)

When I re-mount mine I will be going inside. I believe Bounty has a Pic and the parts needed.

I had mine mounted to that tin can some people call a bumper on my cj.It was a joke!I got stuck and it was wedged in between my jeep and the rock behind me!Inside is the way to go if you can find a good spot that saves room and doesnt block visability.I myself think I am going to put it elevated on my front bumper.Thats when I get a new front bumper though... :) Sully

I mounted mine inside too... or should I say "mounted". I just layed it down stretching from wheel well to wheel well over the "trunk" and used bungie cords to strap it to where the rollbar comes down. It doens't move at all! If you have a swing out tire carrier I would mount it straight up behind the spare... I may do that once i build my rear bumper.

mount her on the rear. i have a square tube rear bumber and i mounted mine so that it slides into the bumber..helps keep the elements off it.

Taking my baby off of the low carb diet!!!

Mount it inside if you want it to work when you need it most. They tend not to work when covered with filth, I've seen too many that way.

Here's mine with two muffler clamps and two wingnuts. Check out the pin for the footplate, makes assembling for use very quick. Keeps the jeep line moving if you can get to your hilift quick, it works well, and you can get it mounted back up quick.

Yeah, might have to go inside, I like how yours is set up Bounty, the foot plate pin is a great idea. Plus it limits the chances of someone running off with it when I'm parked somewhere.

I mounted mine across the top of the tailgate on my CJ-5. The departure angle is uneffective, and since I frequent mud that is bumper height, it stays fairly clean. I can't use the tailgate with it on, but since I have no top it hasn't bothered me yet.
