Ok one last tire question. Need all suggestions.

I want to get a new steering wheel on my 97 tj that has an air bag. Does anyone know if it is difficult to remove an air bag equipt wheel and how to do it. Ive seen air bags going on ebay for $100 + so mabey I can even sell it to pay for a sweet GT wheel or somthin. Does the air bag have to be out and deflated, or can get it out eaisily?

the first thing id like to suggest is... forget it.. Not that i have a problem with removing the air bag, cuz i dont care for them myself. But with the massive steering column shrouding they but on there so that it matches the steering wheel, its going to make most aftermarket steering wheels look goofy on there.
But if you go ahead and do it, just be sure to find the appropriate way to disarm the airbag, or it may go off in your face.

Good luck, and be careful

Maybe ill replace the whole steering colemn. My Blinker switch is broken anyways. Only on left hand turns i turn on the blinker it blinks but when I hit the break while the blinker is on, it stays lit up. When my foot is off the break It blinks like normal. And if i press the blinker down just slightly while the break pedle is pressed it will work ok. I think it has something to do with the rear center break light and how its wired. Does your center brake light flash when your blinker is on? Mine only flashes on left blinking not right blinking. I tried to unplug the rear light but it didnt change anything. One day I got mad at it and slamed the blinker down and it broke and now it has the same symptoms as before but it wont automaticaly turn off after i turn a left hand corner. RRRHGGG -jake

I just removed my air bag on my 96 z71 to replace ignition switch. The first thing is to disconnect the negative battery cable then remove the fuse for the air bag. It should come out as an assembly. Verify with a chilton manual before trying. This was my first time and it was a little scary. The open space in the steering wheel looks like a good place to mount a tv or gps if you decide not to reinstall.

I just replaced my clock spring thingie that connects the air bag to the battery (no horn I could give a hoot about the bag) it took abvout 30 seconds to remove the air bag with a 5/16 hut driver two bolts in the back, thata it a steering wheel puller to get the wheel off and in less tha ten minutes done.
