Hello all, I'm new I own a 98 jeep grand Cherokee 4.0 and recently while going up hills at high rpms I get a burning oil smell and amoke comes out the passenger side floor and sometimes the whole dash depending on how much strain is on the engine. Now I've replaced the valve cover gasket no anti freeze leak I'm just running out of things to look for if you could help that would be awesome

Re: help smoke in interrior problem

Is there lots of engine blow by at rpm?

Nope runs normal as it always did just this smell and smoke, to clairfy what you mean I was never good with words i just showed or called everything, thingys, and dodads

Blow by is when the combustion gases go into the crank case. A small amount the PVC system will handle. Once it gets out of hand it can come out where ever it has the chance and it smells like burning oil. A lot of times it will come out the air box or dipstick tube or oil cap. Anything on the exhaust. I've seen the rear mains leak on the crossover pipe if it has one.

Im pretty sure its the oil filter or where it screws onto im going to change the oil and see if that does the trick if not, im not sure what i can do

Okay got the adapter off no problem got all the rings changed but I did notice oil all under my transfer case and i had bought one off eBay and it had that gasket in a bottle around it I'm thinking I need to take it off take it apart and re so it because I know that isn't engine oil
