headlights staying on

I have a 02 liberty when you turn off the ignition with the headlights stay on. even if you turn the switch off and one else have this issue??

Might have something to do with the typical Jeep courtesy light function. If you turn off the ignition then the headlights, the headlights stay on for a few minutes (timer). Designed to give you some light to make it out of the garage or to the front door.
If you turn off the headlights before turning off the ignition, the headlights go out and stay out.
Not real familiar with the 02 models, but this is how it is with many earlier models.

Probably like mudder said, but also it could be an intermittent failure in the light swith(the one to switch between brights and dims), mine was doing the same thing till I replaced it.

There are multiple possible causes for the headlamp staying on even after turning off the ignition. However, as MudderChuck explained , the lamp should extinguish after the timer times out and, it should extinguish at once after shutting off the lamps prior to turning off the ignition. If not, the possible causes are; faulty relay, faulty multifunction switch,Faulty feed circuit or Faulty BCM inputs or outputs.

i have an 02 liberty also but have never had that trouble. does your need you to turn the key a couple of time before it actually will start? mine did that alot before the motor burned up. hopefully when the new motor is in it starts fine.

is yours an early 02 or later 02?
