headlight harnesses

I have read that you can buy kits for upgrading the headlight harnesses.

However, I would like to do this on my own. The only problem i have is finding the pair of wires that supply the trigger for the high and low beams.

NOT the wires going to the plug. I am looking for the single pair coming from the switch BEFORE it "Y's" into 4 pairs for the headlights.

Also, if anyone knows of a place where I can buy headlight harnesses (off road shops) without having to resort online. That'd help.

Hi,

What model and year?
What are you trying to accomplish? Are you upgrading the wiring so you can safely use larger lamps?

I have a 2001 Xj Sport.

I am trying to maxmize my light output. I put a new harness on my Subaru. Using the stock lights, I put out about 50% more light just by upgrading the harness.

I just need to know where the main wires are for the low and high beam.

not the one that go to the lights themselves. I am looking for the wire before it splits into the wires going into the lights themselves.

Hi,

I don't know exactly where they'd be, as I don't know any specifics about the post '97 model year cherokees' electrical system. Can't you trace the wires by hand if need be? Or just look at the output of the headlamp dimmer switch, that is where the two feeds originate.

Yeah. I will probably look into that. But, I did find out that local Advance Auto has the APC wiring harness upgrade for H4 bulbs. Works with 6054 as well. for a measly 50 bucks.
