Hazard relay not working on YJ

1993 YJ.. replaced the relay, no hazard lights.. step on the brakes with the hazard switch on, and both turn indicators light, but the turn signals won't work.. turn off the hazard, and turn signals work again.. fuse good, relay new... chiltons is terrible! their wiring diagrams have a LOT of nothing in them.. actually what I call FM wiring diagrams.. anybody recall a problem like this and where to short cut looking? thanks.. wayne

Have you checked the flasher?

replaced the flasher with a new one, also checked the huge fuse going to it..

Did you happen to install LED tail lights?

the problem your describing is classic flasher failure. I would venture to guess the issue lies there. there is a HD flasher relay for these vehicles designed for towing purposes, try that flasher see if it works.

Not to keep asking the same question over and over, but you did placer the hazard flasher and not the blinker one right?

yes.. hazard on upper left, turn signal upper right.. replaced the correct one..
