Hard top for body lift

I was offered a good hard top with sliding door uppers for the simple task of a body lift... The only thing wrong here is that the jeep owner is leaving sunday, and.... A. I don't have even a few bucks to buy the parts and B. There is no place around here that sells anything I can use to do the lift. I hope something falls together in time

Frame rot

i have heard of someone using hokey pucks to do a body lift, all i know is that they bought extended bolts and drilled a hole in the middle to allow the bolt go throu, so if u have any sport stores around i would try that, but DONT take my word for it, just an idea

OK... we got the parts... I'm using 2x2 square tubing, and making lift rails rather than using lift pucks... this would help the stability much more...

I can't remember, and haven't looked yet... how many mounts are there, 9 or 11?

Well.. I started yesterday by spraying the bolts with some PB blaster... today I went to remove one bolt... 1/4 turn, SNAP!!!!!... awesome, a broken body mount now... I dared not even attempt the rest...

Well.. I got the top anyway, but i'm letting the bolts soak a few more days, and going every so often to respray them.... the owner is moving to detroit tomorrow, but is leaving the jeep and is coming back for it next weekend... i'll keep you up on it all

the rubber mounts will be kept and used. The tubing will be used between the body and the current mount. This also helps reduce body flex and will add support to the underbody. plus... it completely hides the gap in the rear if used across the entire back. the ride should feel no different, just 2" higher

Coil Spings

Where there is a will there is a way. Many of the most popular jeep mods we all know and love came from some one doing just what yo are. Trying to do with what is avalible for the project. Keep us posted. tug

i'll certainly keep you up on it... but... i'm not sure if its going to get done or not... if i keep breaking these bolts, I dont know what i'll be doing to fix that... I think an impact wrench will help a lot

Best to weld those metal spacers to the frame perch, otherwise they'll easily shift. Then use the body mount on top of the spacer.

When you go to loosen the body mounts, try loosening 1/4 turn and tightening 1/8 turn. May have to do 1/8 and 1/16 at first. Keep doing this as long as needed. This will get you in the right direction, easier on the bolts, and will generate heat which will help break the bolts loose.

it wouldn't even back out a 1/4 turn.... the 1/4 turn that I DID get was actually the bolt twisting... I think an impact wrench will be a good help as they only turn about 1/32 of a turn on each impact, which gives it a good way to work out... I actually did think of the welding... but don't have access to a welder at this point... plus, the jeep is in the kids driveway this week, and he is not there... that kinda hurts

I've found that an impact will only break the bolt or nut sooner, had better luck with a wrench and cheater bar :D

It depends on what type of impact and the settings that it is set on .... But you are right a wrench and a cheater bar work great..:)

well i hope that I dont keep breaking them... I guess it can go with one mount being broke, it is the driver side rear... but if i break another... i don't know how i'm going to go about getting the broken section out... I could just break all of them off and get the body up.. but then I am left with 11 stubs to deal with...

I got the hard top.. I installed it today, my soft top was leaking really bad... I like the sound of my stereo even more now with the hard top on there... it was a pain in the balls to get the hard doors adjusted right, but i got them

Glad to hear you got them so far ... Just drill them out and Tap them...:)
