I just got my 1st Jeep last week and have a ? about it.
I have the full steel door's and they seem to be cracking around the channels where the glass goes.(the steel has cracks) Has anyone else had this happen to theirs? What did you do to fix this? I'm worred that if i weld on them it will warp and ruin the paint on the doors. Any help would be great.
Thanks

Actually, I got mine with a "rip" in the metal right below the window. Its about 1.5" long, it hasn't grown in 5 years, so I just leave it. The doors are off most of the time now anyway!

I guess if you were to fix it, welding the split would be ideal. Then grind down the weld, bodyfill and paint.

I'd just leave it as well. If you weld it, you'll have to repaint at least a portion of the door (probably the whole thing to get it to look right).

I took the doors to a body shop today and the guy said the same thing. Just leave it. He could fix them but it would cost alot and would most likly only last a few years. Thanks for the replys.
I have one more problem that just came up. The plastic resavire that holds the power steering fluid on my Jeep has a crack in it and is leaking. Where would I find a new one. Do they make aftermarket ones? Thanks again

My driver side door had the crack below the wing window and the glass frame flexed causing a really annoying squeak. So I just took my trusty wire feed welder and welded them together. I just rattle canned the welds with primer and they don't look that bad. Ya can't see it from the outside, so what the heck!
