Good rim/tire size for a TJ w/ 4" Skyjacker lift?

Cool product for coil sprung front ends

Ordering my lift tonight, trying to figure out how big of tires i should go with little to no hassle.

I'd go with 33x12.50's on 15x8" wheels.

But yes, axles, gears, engine, and all that stuff make a difference.

thats a true 33" tire(actualy 33.1) with an 11" center section. Most 33x12.50's are between 32.5"-32.8"

Not sure on gears/axles/etc...its a stock 2005 Wrangler X Special Edition with a 4.0L/Automatic Transmission.

Trying to order this kit tonight, theres so many options tho...Do these kits include all i'll need?

The second link is a better deal, i think they are the same thing. The year doesnt say 2005 but im pretty sure it will be fine.

Just went with the 2nd link and bought it. My question really was is 33" the biggest tire i can squeeze now? I dont want any rubbing, etc.

The answer to that question goes either way!

Yes, a TJ with 4" of lift can fit a 35" tire...But... It will rub like a SOB! also your D35 rear is not up to the task of handling 35" tires for long if you plan to wheel! heck, 33" tires will be fine on a D35 rear assuming you do not lock it! Once you install a locker, you put a lot more stress on the axle splines when in a situation where the rotational torque applied to those splines is increased cause instead of transfering power to a wheel with less traction, both axles will receive it equally.

also you probably have either 3.07's or 3.54's You can drive with both and 33" tires, but 35" are a stretch for 3.07's I have 3.07's and 33" tires on my YJ for the past 5 years, you'll adapt you driving style.

I have the Skyjacker 4" lift. I can't remember what the part number was, but mine came with everything except the brake light relocation kit. That wasn't a big deal since I did it myself with set of fat washers. My 33x12.5x15"s don't even come close to rubbing unless I'm super flexed. However, they do rub on the front lower control arms if I'm flexed and turning at the same time. That's no big deal as far as I'm concerned. I also have the nitro shocks on mine and when I put the hard top on I almost got seasick when I drove it the first time. That problem shall be fixed as soon as I get my Ranchos since one of my rear shocks is now bent just a smidge from an unfortunate encounter with a boulder.

I'd not even get the shocks and order a set of Ranchos. saves you from having to take it apart again in the future.

You should be happy with the Hydros. They aren't the best shocks on the market, but I feel they are as good or better than most in their price range. The Hydros are soft enough for comfort, but firm enough to control big tires.
