lookin for some help found a yj 4cyl. auto for sale my ? is, does the 4cyl. have enough power for a auto trans. or should i hold off and get a manual trans. i do most of my off roading in the beach

I prefer '94-'95 YJs with the 4.0L and AX15 transmission.... '95s even came with the galvanized tub which would be a plus in the salt......

Depends on what you're planning on doing with it. I bought my '93 with a 4.0, auto, 33" BFG's and 3.07 rears. After about two years the transmission started to shudder. I put an AX-15 in, but it was a lot of work and money. I'd wait 'til you find a good '94 or '95 with a 4.0 and a manual. Those years have the external slave cylinder, which make replacing it so much easier. The later years are much better when it comes to rust, but I've worked on '99s with more rust than my '93. Good luck, and congrats.

Sometime during the end of the TJ run Chrysler stopped offering an auto with the 4 banger.

You could probably get a good deal on one, but I'd save up for the 6 cylinder
