Has anyone here swapped out their Ring, and pinion themselves. I need to do it soon and I do not want to pay for someone else to do it. I am just looking for some tips. What tools do I need, anything to watch out for, and so forth. Thanks
setting up gears is not hard...just time consuming if you dont know what you are doing. a pro could set the gears up once and get it right where as someone else may have to set it up and take it apart several times. i beleive youll need a backlash indicator and something to measure the pre-load of the pinion nut with. somebody else may be able to give you a better answer! good luck
i did it myself... as a rookie in about an hour... kinda had no idea what i was doing... no special tools... just made sure everything went back with the same amount of spacing as it came out... not something i would suggest to everyone
