its usually not good to get brand as a tattoo.

what if you sell your wrangler in the future? sometimes, as regretful as it is, you have to sell a vehicle to move forward in your life and you are stuck driving something else for a few years, or you even move onto something else because you grow in a way you did not foresee your self going. getting that as a tattoo seems cool now but might not be so cool in the future. a tattoo is serious business and represents something that is deep and meaningful in your life, a vehicle usually does not fall into that category enough to get it etched into your skin forever.

what if you get into air cooled VWs in a few years, or into hyper-mileage vehicles? that tattoo will definitely require explaining at the car club meets and bbqs.

i'll tell you about mine.

i have this:

superjtat-1.jpg

its been my nickname since i was a freshman in high school. i have been called super j in high school, the army, college, and the 10 years i have worked as a civilian for the army. i have been called super j by someone, regularly, since i was 15 years old. i am now 36.

i have also been a surfer since i was a freshman in high school too. and actually been body surfing since i was 4 years old and learned in hawaii.

this tattoo:

is waves going around the chinese character for ocean. even now, i live within 1/4 mile of the ocean and hear, see, and smell it daily. i no longer surf because skin cancer from so many days out on the water with no shirt or sunblock, but i still love the ocean.

i also got a new one recently, Cristina, in a nice curvy lettering. for my beautiful wife, Cristina. we have been married almost 14 years and she is still as beautiful as she was when she was 18.

I tend to agree with superj, but if you do get a jeep tattoo. I think I would have something in the background of it describeing something about you. For example if you like the beach,or the mountains and rivers or forest. Or maybe a picture of a strip club in the background, whatever turns ya on. But I would give it some serious thought.

You could start small, like the one on the hand? Or just say screw it and go large!

tattoos are to show your feelings through art at that specific time in your life.So to get a Jeep tattoo now and then get into VW's in the future is an easy explanation. At that time in your life you loved your Jeep, now you changed,or life has changed so now you like something else.just means you get to get another tattoo to show it..lol

Super J I got rid of my wrangler about 8 or 9 months ago for a 2012 VW TDI, I have regretted it for about 7 or 8 months now. plus i have visited this forum regularly since then, i am also scanning craigslist regularly for a new jeep just saving for now. Plus I have wanted this tattoo for about 3 years now ever since I bought my 97 TJ. I also don't want to get it in a noticeable place it's not for other people its just for me. And I think I want to go as small as they can make it I don't want it to take up a lot of space

Maybe have the jeep driveing over the VW.

I got mine I the upper arms for the reason I wanted it covered for work and so they don't stick out

Haha I'm thinking about getting it on my butt that way it's only for me and you don't get to see it unless I want you to see it

it will cause some trouble in the locker room, ha ha ha.

anywhere a normal short sleeve shirt and shorts covers is good enough for passing any employment checks. some places will move you down the hiring list if your tattoo can be seen while interviewing.

That is why they invented long sleeve shirts.lol

Just giving you a heads up on what I have seen happen to guys. Lots of tattoos that are not easily covered and you are not going to move into any white collar jobs easily. Unless you like long sleeves all summer long

I know it sucks but when I interview people for slots in my shop, large or uncovered tattos make me think they are not a good choice.

that is part of the problem, people should be judged on there skills not there looks. It is kinda like saying i am not going to hire you because of your race.I have multiple tattoos and most people call me a Caucasian.I was born a Caucasian but made the choice to be colored (with ink).So when I fill out paper work and it ask I fill in other with a comment of multi-colored.That is just my opinion.I just dont like to see people being discriminated for any reason race, skin color, tattoo, piercing. As long as it doent prevent you from doing the job and will not harm you.Personally my job we can have piercings for a safety issue.

This is funny to me. Just had a situation where as an administrator deleated one of my threads because of case sensitive issues with folks. And I agreed with them.
This should be interesting.

I would hope it doesnt get deleted,it is just my opinion.I am not trying to offend any one nor am I offended if.I understand corporate America does make decisions like that,I just do not agree with it.

I have no problem with tattoos and say go for it Matt. I have none but if I did it would be small and not easily visible also. Should people be judged by visible tattoos? No. Are they? Absolutely. That is not going to change anytime soon. When I owned a restaurant I would not hire people with visible tattoos if they wouldn't cover them. If they had any showing during the interview I'd ask them if they would be able to cover them if they worked here. If they wouldn't/couldn't I thanked them for coming and wished them luck in their job search. A couple of my best employees had tattoos on their arms. One guy had a full sleeve and the other girl just on her wrist. The guy wore a skin colored cover that I bought for him and the girl always wore long sleeves. Yes, even in the SC summers. So, while I have no problem with people getting whatever tattoos they want just don't be surprised if your tats prevent you from getting a job because that is not the image some employers want to project to their customers.

yup, as much as they should not be, it still does happen. i don;t cut them from the job, like it may seem from my other post. i was just giving a heads up that that kind of stuff does happen.
