Fuel pump problem

Hey guys just installed the mechanical fuel pump for my cj7 1981 4 cylinder engine with the gasket of course. Its leaking either oil or gas. Did i install it right

It could be either. You need to figure out which it is. If it's comming from between the engine and pump it's oil and needs to be resealed with gaskets or some tipe of sealer. If it's comming from the fittings, It's gas and the fittings need to be tightened or replaced if you got them cross threaded.

Another thing is i cant seam to get fuel to reach the carb. Should i replaced the fuel line or find the little leak and patch it. Theirs no gas leaking anywhere?

use rtv sealant on the gaskete, can get it at autozone. If the line is leaking at the fittings then use thread tape on it, rip off about a two inch section of the tape and u just wrap some of it around the treads of your fitting and it makes for a tight fit. Try putting some gas in the carb and start it, you may need to do this a couple times before the gas reaches the carb from the tank. they can be tough to start sometimes after a fuel pump change. putting gas in the carb and starting it will suck the gas from the tank to the pump. which is why it may take a few times.

awsome, glad you got it. So are you up and running yet.
