RE: Steering problem after stuck, HELP!!!

Anyone know of a link for tj front spring installation. I have a
haynes manual but it only shows leaf installations. basically I need
to know if tie rod needs to come off both ends. I know track bar,
sway bar link needs to be removed. drag link?

No, you can leave the steering intact. Leave the control arms intact, unless you're replacing them, and try to fit the springs in by only disconnecting the swaybar and track bar. Then if you need more room only disconnect the control arms necessary to get more droop. This will make it go back together easier.

Update (wheel alignment)

Manual says disconnect tie rod ends, is that necessary?
I'm putting in coil spacers.

Absolutely not necessary to do anything with the tie rod ends. If you are leaving the stock shocks on there, remove the bottoms to get a little more. If that's not enough the trackbar (lower mount is easiest) and or control arms. I doubt you'll even need to drop the control arms for poly spacers though.

Thats what I thought. lower shock bolts, sway bar end links, track bar at the axle.
Everything should drop from there. Instructions that came with spacers as well
as Haynes manual says to disconnect both tie rod ends. That didnt seem right to me
hence my post. thanks for the info.

RE: Trouble Signing in

Not too bad, you can still drive it to the alignment shop. Toe-in isn't too hard to correct yourself if you're up to it.

CB ????

Since my last post project completed. I removed sway bars, track bar at axle,
the only problem was I didnt get enough drop so I took a bottle jack and
lifted one end of axle to get other end to drop further springs went in with
a little help from a crow bar, piece a cake. Thanks guys for chiming in.
Once again haynes manual/daystar instructions way off.
How do I do the alignment myself?

another thing that needs mentioning is a spring compressor.. it makes the job a whole lot easier.... I installed 2" spacers on an XJ and the only thing we disconected was the sway bar and shocks.
