Front locker

I've been running the front and rear welded in my YJ for a few years now, no problems. It gets wheeled pretty hard, and driven on the road often. I've got the stock axles and 2.5L engine. I normally run 32"x11.5" TSL Swampers but have ran 34" LTB's in a rock comp.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll give you more info. We've gone over it quite a bit here if you want to search Lincoln Locker.

Do i need to do a posi lok in order to weld the front up?

No, unless you want the option to disconnect the pass. side shaft to make 4wd turning easier. I have a manual vacuum switch to disconnect that shaft for tight sections of trail, allowing 3wd and easier turning. Also needed for snow/ice driving, 3wd allows turning on very slick surfaces.

Get the 'emergency 4wd' switch from any SJ or CJ equipped with the Quadratrac 4wd. Easy to identify the donor jeep by the offset rear diff. I've seen them on Ebay too, but not lately.

The switch is either a dial (CJ) or lever (SJ). Mines the lever, looks almost identical to the fan speed switch in a YJ. Important thing is they have 3 vacuum ports, 1 is input and 2 are outputs. Mount it to your dash and attach the input line (red vacuum line across firewall from manifold to battery area). Then splice the outputs to the two black vacuum lines running to the front axle from the transfer case, spliced mine along the passenger frame rail just inside of the shock tower.

Easy, about a 30 minute install. It's very easy to troubleshoot problems and very easy to return to stock by moving the vacuum lines back where needed. 3wd is just a throw of the lever and the little 'ppppfffffttttt' you hear at the switch when the vacuum releases.

If you know you are upgrading the rear than weld it. You aren't sure about the front from the sound of your earlier posts... right? I had the same dillema recently, but decided my cryco axle was worth holding onto for a little while.

You can't love the dana 35, so weld it until it dies.
