I was debating dropping an aussie locker into the front D30 in my YJ. Do I need to do a hub conversion or will it be just fine? Or do you guys recommend doing the rear D35 instead of the D30. I will be swapping the D35 in the future but plan on keeping the D30 for a while. Thanks alot.

it is much much more effective to lock the rear... but if you plan on upgrading, then you might not want to spend the money... if you plan on locking the front, a selectable locker may be your best choice... if you go with a spool or a fulltime locker, you might want a manual disconnect

You don't need the locking hubs, the vacuum system will disconnect the pass. side axle shaft when in 2wd. You can install a manual vacuum switch or cable to disconnect the pass. side when in 4wd, makes tight turns on the trail a lot easier, and driving in snow, with a front locker.

Thanks, i do plan on upgrading the rear axle soon and plan on keeping the D30, cant afford an ARB so I figured Aussie or a Detroit EZ would be the best. Can u recommend a good kit for the axle disconnect?

a D30 with 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern will not accept manual disconects on the hubs. You will need to change out the axles for a 5 on 5.5 to accomidate manual disconects.
I have been thinking of doing an ARB for my front but I was told Tera-Flex will be coming out soon with an ARB style locker that will have an manual lock in system if ever your on-board air system fails and will be 100$ cheaper than an ARB.

I've been running a ARB for the last 4 years in the d30 in a yj and have not had one problem except once in the winter the air line froze up for a couple of minutes. If your junkin that d35 anyway, put a cheap lockright in it.
also the ARB dosent like mud too much, so change the oil alot
