i am kinda new to the jeep stuff. some of my friends have jeeps but i just got my first one. its a 90 with a 6 cyl. my problem is it runs awful. i have been told by many people to ditch the carter and get a weber. how do i tell if its throttle body injection or carb. 99% sure its a carb but some say the 90 yj's are not carbed. i also think it is a one barrell. when i take off the air cleaner it only has one "barrell" or opening any way. i would like to fly through a mud hole without dying half way through.please advise. thanks in advance.
p.s. this site is awesome [addsig]

All '90 6cyl. wranglers are carbed. You can get by with rebuilding the carb, but you will eventually have the same problems. Also check out the MotorCraft carbs, I think the 2150 or 2100.[addsig]

I don't know about the motorcraft. But the Weber will eliminate just about all the vacuum tubes and the entire air cleaner assembly.[addsig]

Welcome to the site. If you don't like the carter and am a bit skepticel of the weber carb, From experience I know a 400 chevy runs great with a tunnel ram and duel holly 400 cfm quads!! hehe, toss that monster in the YJ, you'll never "run aweful" again

JK. From what I have heard the weber seams to be the way to go. Holley also makes a direct replacement carb for the 4.2, but not heard a whole lot of feedback about them.

What is the CFM for the carb on a 6-cyl?
I wonder if Demon has any products that
would work for Jeeps? I have friends who
have used 'em on V8s and really like 'em.

Be carefull of putting a demon carb on a jeep if you intend on anything other that flat land. I have a friend who has a YJ with a 350 chev and loved the demon on the street but wanted to send it back to hell as soon as he started up a steep hill or got off camber.

a friend of mine was running a demon carb on his 440 Duster. never really liked it though and he ended up gettin rid of it for a HOLLEY. that was when they first came out and i have'nt had any direct exposure to them since so they could of worked out any bugs by now.[addsig]
