Fires in CA- Arson

Is this just another terror attack? or maybe domestic terror?

Either way, look at the pattern of the fires and how they were spread out up the coast like that.

the whole thing looks suspicious to me:(

I was just looking at the graphics by the news channels on the whole state and where the fires started.

Has anybody heard the media try to spin the magnitude of these fires as a result of global warming? What a crock of manure! The impact and destruction of these fires would be the same regardless of the warming or cooling of the climate. Wildfires create their own climate (winds, temperature, and even rains), which lead to massive destruction that can be seen year after year with these large wildfires.

As far as determining how the fires started, there are four categories: Natural, Accidental, Unknown, and Incendiary (intentionally set -- arson). Note that "suspicious" is not a category. If you read a news article or hear on the news that a fire is determined "suspicious", question that investigator's credibility. There are no suspicious fires, only suspicious fire investigators!

so every fire investigator that says a fire is suspicious is himself, "suspicious"?
dang.

I have seen two different opinions on different channels. One says its so dry in Cali, blah, blah, blah. On the other you have the people that are saying that they had so much rain in the normally dry climate that the Chapparal and brush have grown larger than normal and are burning like mad now that they have dried out. They are reporting to only be an inch or so behind in average rainfall, so to say it is abnormal or result of global warming seems illogical.
I would have my doubts about it being a terror attack, though now that its been brought to light, they will certainly remember it in the future. Our state has been in the worst drought in years. I have seen many places along the interstate where the medians and right of ways have caught fire. I still get behind folks on a routine basis that are tossing cigarette butts out the window. Sometimes I wish I could pull them over and give them a ticket...one of my pet peeves for sure.
Some of these fires are no doubt due to negligence. You have a dry climate, high winds, dry brush and a recipe for disaster. Some people just don't think. Stay tuned for mudslides to come.

BTW...has anyone noticed the difference in demeanor between the crowd at Qualcomm and the Katrina crowd at the Superdome. You've got people that are pulling together to help each other, volunteering to unload trucks and basically having one big tailgate party. Still smiles in the crowd from folks just happy to be alive. The Superdome crowd were raping, pillaging, fighting and waiting for a handout.
No doubt that as taxpayers we are all deserving of help from the federal government when the time comes, but we owe it to each other to not abuse the help. I saw viewer e-mails on CNN with comments about how rapidly the government has responded to the needs of all the rich folks in California and how they left people dying in wheelchairs in New Orleans. What a crock. They were much better prepared this time for one, but foremost is that the municpalities and state governments responded first in an organized manner before they even solicited the government for help. The difference is you have to want to help yourself first rather than waiting on a handout.

We were just in LA and Malibu 2 weeks ago, I don't think we'd be able to drive down Malibu Canyon if we were out there now. Shame to see such beautiful countryside go up in an inferno.

I know one thing... that's one sick, heartless son of a gun who did that. All those people with their homes destroyed... why :?|

I hope all of our Cal Jeepz members are clear of harm''s way.

Equally large fires in the 1930's and even larger ones in the 1870's should easily dispel that ridiculous notion.

Any links to the Sat. photos I saw on the news?

I'm actually working in a call center of sorts (Army National Guard) in San Diego right now and it's not as bad down here as I had imagined. I was in Gulfport, MS a few months after Katrina and it still looked worse then this does right now. However, I have yet to see a burned area. I'm sure it's much worse there.

I've seen a few reports on the news about all this, but I haven't heard any comparisons to Katrina yet. I stopped watching the news a few days ago. I do remember them saying that most of the "affluent" people had already left. Seems to me I see a hurricane or a fire moving my way I'm gettin the hell out of it's way......no matter how much money I make!
