Finally started work on my jeep again

Never Old

New member
Yesterday I started working on transferring parts from the old engine to the new engine in my jeep. So far I have removed: oil pump, oil pan, cam/crankshaft gear cover, water pump, thermostat housing (need a new one), alternator, power steering pump, half of the brackets for the alternator and power steering pump, clutch, and flywheel. As for what I have installed so far: oil pump, oil pan, and cam/crankshaft gear cover. The jeep that you see in the photos is not mine, I have a blue jeep.

Man, I know what a pain it is when we're short of time, money, or both delaying our projects, I just got done with a project on my CJ that I've had to revisit for over a year now laying my Jeep up for several months.

The new engine had to sit at the shop for about 2 weeks before I finally started work on it. Now I am trying to get back to work on it but the shop Forman was short one guy this week and I am not the best with installing gaskets. Now, with only 2 weeks before school starts, I need to have the jeep running and get it out of there otherwise it will have to wait 'til winter break before I could work on it again. I honestly didn't want to put the same engine in it but converting everything so it could run off of diesel (I want to put a cummin 5.9 in it) would take resources I don't have.

Many of my projects get delayed on account of my working 7 days a week since 2003, luckily I get saturday afternoons' off or I'd go mushugna

I talked to the shop Forman on Friday and it looks like I'll be able to start working on the engine again on Monday. I just hope I could get that lower thermostat housing to work in the condition it is in.

I was suppose to go work on the jeep yesterday but the water pump in my truck went bad so I got to go today and I think the engine should be in the jeep either Monday or Tuesday.
