like new YJ soft doors for sale

OK I have a 2.5L 95 that I want to replace the exhaust....I have been looking online don't really know what I need....I would like to replace the whole thing from the headers down...but also don't want to spend to much...I would like a good name brand, not some cheap one....now I like the look of the borla...but it only comes from the end of the cat to tip...so I would have a nice rusty pipe and cat then a shiny muffler and end pipe...does anyone have any good places to get the entire exhaust??? also if i did go with the cat back one how do you get the old one off??? it looks like it is welded on there
thanks for any help

How much money are you looking to spend? I just went to a local muffler shop and got all new pipes (not including manifold) for about $350. Most of the piping is the same (aluminized steel that is mandrel bent), whether you buy it from a local shop or through a catalogue, or whatever. I got flowmaster mufflers, a high flow cat., and had them place it where it would be out of the way of logs, ect.

If you don't want to go the complete custom route, Banks has parts to replace everything except the Cat (as far as I know) but this can be costly.

Check www.4wd.com for stock and performance exhaust parts.

A good upgrade for the pipe from the manifold to the converter is to use a pipe from a 2.5L TJ. The pipe crosses to the passenger side in front of the oilpan sump, several inches higher than where the YJ pipe crosses under the bellhousing.

I run a Flowmaster cat-back from www.rustysoffroad.com on my 2.5L, about $160.

red line mt-90 or mtl question

I'm just saying that going the custom route can actually be cheaper a lot of the times. I had mine also go in front of the oil pan, so that it is out of the way.

I had a 2.5 L in a YJ and it was to date the best sounding jeep I have ever listen to. Keep the manifold there is just to many complaint from the header crowd. They rust out break and just generaly cause heart aches for the good they do. Plus you are going to need them to creat a little back presure.

Now either throw the cat as far as the east is from the west or if you live in an inspection area take it off and gut that puppy. Make it a free flowing link in the exaust. Another route is keep your cat and just keep it in the garage till inspection time rolls around. Have a clamp up link of exaust pipe flared on each end to run in its place for the rest of the year.

Then get yourself a nice Flowmaster 30 to replace the muffler with. No cat and a flowmaster 30 on a 4 banger sounds so good it will make you shead a tear on a cool morning. Not to mention how good it will breat. Do this at a local garage Mom and Pop shop where the job will be special and the money will stay at home. That is what I would do any how. tug

I can also vouch for the Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. The catalogs will tell you that the Dynomax won't fit on an '89 2.5L but I beg to differ. The muffler part # 17731 will fit and it does increase flow and sounds great.

As for the front pipe... I plan on taking Bounty's advice and switching to the TJ 2.5L front pipe as soon as I rip my stock one off.

Just don't buy Borla, Biggest waste of money. I regret ever spending almost $300 for a stainless kit, when all said and done, just the muffler was stainless. the piping is rusted and the nice exhaust rusted out in less then two months of a New England Winter.

Go with the flowmaster kit from Rusty's, it is the best bang for the buck!
