engine swap

Ok I am thinking about doing an engine swap my amc 304 is not gonna last much longer been thinking about doing a fuel injected 318 or 360 was wondering will the engine bolt directly to my t5 transmission or do I have to get an adapter

the 360 would be the better selection for many reasons, the #1 being that majority of the accessories and drive compnents will swap between the 304 and the 360, they are essentially the same motor (and I am not talking about the Magnum engines from 94+) the 360 from the factory was so bogged down with emissions junk and poor flowing compnents, a small cam, some port matching and head work with a simple EFI kit and you will have a great preforming engine, with great longevity, that will bolt in place of you 304. (same bolt pattern and motor mounts)

Oh, and the 360 is dirt cheap. I recently aquired a 83 AMC 360 with a edelbrock aluminum manifold, and hooker headers, was running till the seller kept the carb, cost me $100 and I didn't even have to pull the motor, showed up at the sellers house, seller had the motor on the cherry picker, was in the back of my pickup in less than 10 minutes.

It's gonna find it's way into a 79 chief that had an engine fire that I aquired for the price of gas to drag it home from Cape Cod.

Just remember a amc 360 is not the same as a Chrysler 360.. I have seen this mistake many times
