engine skid plate

Anybody have suggestions or experience with an engine/oilpan/transmission skid plate? Im looking for one for an 04 tj, the one from skidrow that quadratec has looks good but will 3/16in be thick enough?

i would say so im kinda window shopping for one right now too. I have herd of comp. guys using a three quarter inch piece of super hard plastic to save weight. but i am having a hard time searching them down.

Most of the plastic you see will be attached to an aluminum or steel skid so the rig slides more easily over obstacles, plastic alone isn't strong enough.

3/16" should be plenty thick for moderate wheeling.

3/16 should be fine for sliding over rocks.Now if you wheeling hard and have tires coming off the ground and slamming down on rock go thicker.Remember the thicker the metal the heavier it is.
