engine oil pump problems!!??

I have a 2001 tj sport with the 4.0 with approx 30k miles. Today while muddin', my oil pressure dropped off to nothing a few times, had to rev up the engine to get it to come back up. After a while it went to "0" and never came back. I think I did some cylinder damage. The temp never went above 210 and it never started knocking, just squealing. Had to be towed out of the woods from my buddy...Has anyone had any oil pressure/pump problems similiar to this? Will the dealer warranty it? How difficult is a V-8 swap? Im at a loss....[addsig]

Hello, lifeisgood. I bet this isn't true right now. Well, it sounds like your oil pump went out and your engine may have been damaged. It all depends on how honest your dealer is. Hopefully he won't try to blame it on the mud. If possible, rinse it down and exclude the mudding when you go to the dealer. You don;t want to be stuck with the price tag if he decides to blame you for the damage. I know that Jeeps are made for that, but when it comes to warranty work, DC forget that. Pump is gone ...yup yup....
Wash all mud off ...make sure it is nice and clean.....
and stick it to 'em...... :-D [addsig]
