engine identification

I have a 1989 YJ I was told the engine was swapped I'm sure it,s a 4.2 but I cannot find what year it is.the engine numbers on the block read 411C29. I cant find a site that shows what year this number means.Parts store said the oil filter number I use is not for that year.any place I can look up these numbers.Thanks.

4- 1984
11- November
C- 258 2 bbl (4.2L, 76-89)
29- 29th day of the month

The year code may have to be verified with a search on the block casting number, but if it's a 4.2, it would probably have to be that. I bet the oil filter for an 84 CJ would be what you need. My 87 has a 75 block in it and I have to get the filter to fit the 75 year model.

Thanks for the reply,I have a chiltons but it did not give a list of all the numbers for the YJ models. did I read right that this motor takes 6 quarts of oil when changing with a filter replacement ?
