electric fan

Hi,

Another note: you'll notice that both my schematics above assume that you will trigger the relays on the positive side. There is no problem in doing this, except in some situations you may have to switch the relays on the ground side (mainly depends on the A/C switching part of the circuit). Both circuits can be modified to switch the ground side of the relays instead of the positive side fairly easily.

You da man, that's exactly what I needed. No AC here, that's why the top comes off ;)

Electrical has never been my strong point, but I could wire up what you've drawn. What was the part # again of the 75A Bosch Relay that allows you to not have to use the seperate diodes?

yeah.. xjnick... you're a GREAT help when it comes to wiring... i didn't think about the fan being a generator... but, a DC motor would create AC current wouldn't it? how would a diode, being only one way, allow that to completely unload?

Hi,

Bosch part number: 0 332 002 156 is the 75 amp power relay with parallel/series diodes. You shouldn't have to use diodes at the motor with this relay installed, but if you do or not is up to you (an extra diode here or there can't hurt). I don't think it needs one though :mrgreen:

Color me ignorant, but If Ford didn't incoporate diodes into their design, why should we? or does Ford have a TSB on this? Just curious, I'm building a setup from the ground up so making diodes a part of the install won't be a hassle~unless they're unavailable as that dam 70/80 amp relay was!

You realize this is a 8 year old thread? The diodes are in the Bosch relay though the part #may have changed. see post#16 for the diode explanation.

You realize this is a 8 year old thread?

Respectfully, :mrgreen:Yes I did, but I think it's still a pertinant question for those of us that as yet have delved into this conversion, and as the late post above places the thread back into the primary page (on my computer at least) I thought it may receive a response. Nothwithstanding this, the question still stands.

Went back to the boneyard looking for a bank of relay sockets (small footprint) and I found two more 70/80 amp relays for free with a more contemporary number;

I scanned several vehicles for small footprint relay pods, but so far those that take Bosch style relays are 6x9" and larger.
