been looking at this upgrade for a TJ for a while.

tried doing a search but don't seem to find a definative answer.

what is the best fan setup to do the swap with? without using junkyard parts?

i've been looking at the universal fan setups in Jegs. and i'm wondering what CFM is best? this is for a 4L that won't see much trail duty, but it will be in the hot south florida weather.

i'm thinking something in the 1800-2000cfm range should work

and what is the stock thermostat temp? is there a good lower temp stat that is good to upgrade to? i know putting a 160 in my camaros has always worked well to keep them cool. i was thinking something along the lines of a 170 or 180 for the jeep.

possible parts i'm looking at:

fan
fan switch

Get the most cfms you can find and DO NOT get the cheezy kind that zip tie through the radiator. If your gonna spend the $ it better have some knid of metal bracket or mount. my .02

Im looing at the same thing for my YJ. Be cool makes a kit as well. I think i'm gonna sticlk with the flexi-lite since the Be cool seemed to be about the same price.

My Flex-a-Lite fan is great! It was a very easy install, bolted right on with absolutely no modification at all. I think it took me around 30-45 minutes. It came with an automatic thermostat so it doesn't run all the time. It can be installed to run automatically even when the engine is shut down, or can be switched with the ignition, or even have a manual on/off switch wired in. I highly recommend the Flex-a-Lite fans.

Flex-a-lite model # FLX-475. Shop around but I got mine for $199 at Summit Racing.

Bolts right in and a very EZ install just as Sparky said.

I used a brand new dual electric setup for a Ford Focus. It looks similar to the Scirocco dual setups in Summit and Jegs, but less expensive. It has two 12" fans that can be wired seperately and comes in a shroud.
I don't know the dimensions for your Jeep radiator, but it provided complete coverage for my CJ radiator (304/360/401 three core radiator).
I haven't fully tested mine in the heat of summer, but I have several friends running the same setup. One behind a Hemi, one behind a 5.3L and one behind a 6.0L. They haven't reported any problems.
The mounting brackets on my radiator are steel, allowing me to weld a vertical piece of flate along side it. I then welded 5/16" bolts to the flat bar as mounting studs for the fan. Drilled matching holes in the plastic shroud and it was done. It took about 30 minutes to make and beats using the plastic ties.
