Electric choke

I just bought a weber 38 redline with an electric choke. But the carb I'm replacing has a thermostatic choke... How do I wire in the new carb???

Run a hot wire from something. I think you can go from the positive on the coil if you can find nothing else but there are a number of spots on the factory harness you can use

Find a 12v power supply that's hot with the key on.

Hahahahaha that's easier said than done with the rats nest under my dash. Can I really run a wire from the coil??

Yes. That is how I ran my bmw.
I got that from my karmann ghia days. That's factory vw way

I found a wire in my underdash rats nest that is 12v and only on when the key is in forward position. I wired it all up but it's not moving the choke..

it doesn't happen quickly. the choke spring heats up and slowly opens your choke so you idle properly while cold.

another problem is that sometimes people take the choke spring pack out and don't line up the little tang properly. undo the 3 little screws a little bit, around the where you hooked the wire up, and turn the plastic choke body. the choke plates should move either way you move the choke body. if it moves both ways then you are connected properly and probably just need to set the choke properly.

first though, turn the key to on and lt it sit for about 10 minutes. see if anything has moved after that. if no movement then we will break into the choke assembly and set it right

i am off this week so pm me if you want to work on it quicker. messages go to my phone and i get them quickly and i can tell you how to check and adjust
