USA just lost to Mexico!??!?!?!

America's sport? If there was one of the big 4 I was sure we'd win (other than football) it's surely baseball. So, does that make team USA last?

Well-- we're still best at Football and Cheerleading!

How bout them 49ers?
And WHAT exactly do my 49ers sucking have to do with baseball??? Lets keep our sports and non-sports in seperate discussions.

Besides, unless you're a Steelers or Cowboy fan, they still have more superbowls then your team. ;)

the thing about the baseball classic is that all of the players didn't play. granted, the US team was stacked, and def should have/could have won, but not all of the best players were there. this is the problem with the US basketball team too. people complain that they lose, but it isnt necessarily the best team that we could field. and everyone is going to get down on US baseball, but the d-train had 2 bad games, other than that, the US played well, clemens pitched well enough tonight, just no run support.

No, the problem with baseball is in the rules. You should be able to take the bat with you around the bases and use it as a weapon when they try to tag you out. That would change the whole game and make it more exciting.

I am a huge baseball fan and former college player. The US was stacked and so were some of the other teams, but not Mexico. Other than Jeter, Chipper and Griffey, nobody else really was consistent at the plate. Japan should have won the game against the US and deservingly they will advance instead of them. MLB is loaded with foreign talent and it's obvious that the asian countries have some serious talent to pull from as well. I thought this tounament was really interesting and maybe when it is played again in 2009 all of the players will want to play. The US thought it would be a cake walk and the rest of the teams wanted to prove them wrong. They did and they impressed alot of people by doing so. What about Korea? They are undefeated. I hope the final is Korea and the Dominican. They are the best teams.

The problem with the US team is they put together a team full of famous players rather than the best players. They could have done better. One thing to remember is that baseball is almost as popular as Soccer to Mexico and even more so to some of the other teams. These countries put together their best and it shows. Good for them, and hopefully the US organizers have learned something from it.

Even with our very best I believe that the competition would still be very steep.

The US had an awsome team. But I think the timing of the WBC was all wrong. The top US players dont play winter league ball. Having the tourney right in the begining of spring training doesnt really let the players, who dont do winter ball, get back into competetive baseball. Even the US batting coach was saying that A-rod was just starting to get his swing going in the cage before the Mexico game. I like the idea of starting spring training a week or two early so in the middle of the season we can take a break (like hockey during the olympics) and hold the WBC.

I love the idea of the WBC!

Who said the 49rs suck. They're in a slump. You brought up football in your 1st post.
