Driveshaft?

Currie SYE?

Is it possible to use a CV shaft off of a chevy front. It is close to the same length. I would rather not pay $250 + for a driveshaft. I am planning on taking it to a driveshaft shop, just thought it might work!

is this going in the rear of a yj? if it is the best candadate for DS shortening is a cherokee front driveshaft.

i am pretty sure that chevy half ton u-joints are going to be too big for your yokes.

what year cherokee? a cherokee or a grand? will shortening it be affordable or will i be better off just buying a whole new one?

shortening and balancing can be done for about 50-75 bucks... when i get mine dine.. i'm gonna have them add another jacket around the outside for strength...

I'll be using a TJ front driveshaft for the rear of my YJ, but XJ's are also good donors.

I'm using the RE H&T SYE which mounts the CV shaft to a flange on the transfer case. Spicer makes a centering flange that replaces the front half of the double cardan joint and allows it to bolt to the RE flange.

The TJ/XJ CV front driveshaft will not bolt to the 231 rear yoke. You need to find something that mates up like the above combo.

hey bounty i am looking at getting the currie sye. I think it is about the same. It has four bolts at the back section of it. How does that work? Can a drive shaft shop do it?

The currie and AA SYE's come with yokes as far as I know, and the RE hack and tap uses a flange. I know how to adapt the TJ/XJ front shaft to bolt to the RE flange, but not the yokes. Something would have to be drilled out, either the CV yoke or the SYE yoke, as both have threaded holes for attachment.

If you use the AA sye what type of shaft can you run. can you get a TJ front and shortin it to work. Or will a cherokee work better.

TJ and XJ front shafts mount up the same. I'm not familiar with the AA SYE yoke so I don't know what it will take to bolt those shafts up to that kit. Get an idea of how the TJ/XJ double cardan joint is set up, and then see if a driveshaft shop has the centering yoke needed to bolt to the AA yoke.

as soon as i can get into my father's storage garage, i'll have then answer on the AA kit... i have my kit here.. but my donor shaft is in the garage

AA yoke... mounted to the output by a nut... the ujoint mounts to the yoke with ubolts... not included... but easy to come by

and they are fairly large bolts, compared to the 1/4 normally used. They are 3/8 I believe, with a 7/16 drive. don't qoute that, did my SYE so long ago I forget!

anyone know anything about Rock Krawler TJ lifts

what year cherokee should i get the front shaft off of?

will the pitman arm work as a drop pitman arm. It would be cool if i could find both off of the same donor.

an xj pitman will be a 3" drop for a yj.... a zj pitman will be a 4" drop for a yj
