I have a 1989 cherokee 4.0. The driver's side door hinge is sagging and it looks like its welded to the body (3 screws hold each hinge to the door). Is the welding a previous owners idea, or are they all welded? And how is the hinge repaired? New hinge pin and door hinge? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

They are welded from the factory. I believe there is a factory reinforcement kit for them, I'll see if I can find info on it.

The welds failing is pretty common.

Yep. The passenger door on my buddies 94 fell off when him and his girlfriend were leaving to go on a date one night. That was a funny one.

The weld seems to be fine...its the door side hinge and pin that are worn and sagging. Bounty Hunter, if you can find info on a reinforcement kit, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your help.

Replacement hinge pins are pretty easy to find, the bushings that line the body half of the hinge are not as easy. I have made custom replacement bushings for a number of people. Send me a private message if you need a set.

at least yours is the door side. our 95 cherokee required the body side to be repaired, what a pain
