Do all grease guns leak?

I'm in the market for a new grease gun, and would like to spend my money on something worth having. Every cheap grease gun I've had in the past would leak grease everywhere (when stored). I stored my last one on a pegboard hook until I found that everything under it was covered with grease..

So, can someone recommend a good grease gun? I don't use it often - perhaps every 6 months. Bonus points for a good air gun.

Well Bro,just dont buy any more cheap stuff. the air gun I haven't got a clue about. But i do have a nineteen hundred and seventy five air guitar with case , if that well get me any points.

I use an air powered grease gun i bought from our local tractor supply store. I keep it stored away from any heat source or a hot garage during the summer. Food for thought Terry; if you store it in a warm place, the grease would likely liquify and end up all over what ever is underneath it.

release the pressure when you store it and less will leak out. i just release the little thumb deal on the back and lay it on a piece of plastic and mine hardly drips anything out. its just one of those walmart ones

Like the odorless outhouse. They don't stink till someone ****s in it. <br>
Pall the ones I've had leak. Though releasing the pressuren is best. That and wiping it down after use to catch/clean and droplets.

One other question - do you guys us marine grease or standard? I don't care about the cost (well within reason), I just want something that will work well.

I use lithium grease.I have not found a gun yet that doesnt leak.Has more to do with the grease getting hot and turning into a liquid.I keep mine in the basement with the nozzle end pointed down inside a plastic bag.Still leaks a little but not too bad.

My gun leaks and it was middle of the road in price. I use marine grease. I was told that's what I should use since I do a lot of mud and creek driving. I have no idea if it's truly worth it, I just buy it. Besides, it's a prettier color. ;)

there is a thread somewhere else about grease and someone said to use heavy equipment grease, like for catapillars. the grease forms a skin when exposed to air so it makes a seal to help keep water out
