Do all cars with carbs smell like gas?

I've got an old car that I keep in my garage, and the entire garage stinks of gas. It's got dual carbs on it, and I was wondering if all carberated cars stink.

Anyone have tips for how to get my garage to stop smelling like gas?

Smell of fuel in a confined space from a car that's parked indicates some sort of fuel leak or fuel vapor leak. Check your fuel lines and vapor lines for cracks. And the fuel cap seal as well.

Even on a car with a carb? I mean, isn't a carb just an open bowl of gas? That was my main question. I'm sure the fuel lines are old and need to be replaced, but I wasn't sure if a carb would ever smell good.

Yes and no. it's not completely open to the environment, otherwise it will just evaporate. The carburator has multiple ports that will allow the vapors to escape from the bowl but not an overpowering fuel smell.
