Diesel Smoke

I happened upon this on youtube, and hadn't seen anything like it before (talking about the diesel smoke). Are these trucks normal in some parts of the country?

They smoke like NAFTA trucks from Mexico.

you can see that around places in utah, but if they get caught its a hefty fine. most guys that can smoke that bad only do it getting onto the highway or out in the country

It seems silly to me. Kind of like having an obnoxiously loud exhaust, with the added benefit of extra pollution.

I see that all the time, maybe not quite to that extent everyday. That's a duramax correct? They have custom tunes out to make them lope and blow all kinds of smoke. I used to have a 01 f350 7.3 diesel, I added a edge programmer to it, that thing would roll some coal when you stomped it. I'll miss that truck cuz it had gobs of power but I grew tired of it after a while. Hence why I now own a jeep again

They smoke like that because they turn up the fuel volume whether it be via a mechanical pump or a computer chip, problem is without a larger turbo they can't get a proper air fuel mix and all that black smoke is just wasted unburned fuel...

here in corpus, lots of diesel guys do that. there is nothing ever done about it. they get special tunes for drag racing at night to make money off the import cars who think their little hondas and acuras are fast.

i have a few friends here putting out just under 2k pounds of torque and some crazy hp like 1100 or something. they all blew up their stock trans and driveshafts within a month of doing their tunez and some went with sun trans and some with others. all i know is they are fast

Its the new thing. It was REAL muscle cars in the 70's, mini trucks in the 80's, Hondas with fart cans in the 90's, full sized trucks with no mufflers in the 00's....see a downhill trend here?....now we have this mindlessness to put up with......a giant truck with a trash can in the bed pouring out smoke while sounding like a tractor missing a couple of cylinders and a broken muffler......impressive

Everyone wants a bigger, louder, smokier truck. Just do it right and buy yourself a Kenworth or Peterbuilt to ride around in. Then you can take up 4 parking places instead of 2.:roll:
