Didn't want to HI-Jack a Thread on trac bars so here!

Are there any YJ owners out there that have the JKS trac bar quick disconnect?? I see that is sells for $199.00 which not all that bad of a price, free would be better, but someone has to pay Mister JKS his dues!

If anyone has one or knows someone, how is it's performance?
It appears that it is nothing more than a small bolt that goes through the slip shaft and holds the spline in place. My YJ is not a daily driver but it does see a lot of use on the weekends, does this method of securing ever loosen up?

Is the articulation really that much more??

I had a home made trac bar disconnect that I came up with and with the bar off, my front tires were being stuffed into the fenders, accually ripped the bumpstops off. the issue with my set up is that is was not a real tight connection. I used a clevis pin, some washers and zip ties ( to hold the trac bar up when not needed) and thats it. I would also get a lot of front end rattle from the trac bar cause it was a little loose.

I have since replaced my ingenouse set up (Which was not one of my best ideas) with the original trac bar, but I miss having the extra stuff and drop. :(

can somebody give me some feed back on the JKS trac bar quick disconnect?

I can't comment on the JKS setup, but if it's not your daily driver, just remove your trac bar altogether. After my lift, I ran without ANY trac bars and without the sway bar for about 2 weeks. And my YJ is my daily driver. I didn't see any problems, but neither did I take corners at 30mph. I'd say just don't use it. I know of 2 guys in my club that don't run any trac bars or discos on their YJs and they have awesome articulation. If my jeep wasn't my daily, I'd remove my front trac bar, permanently.

On my ol YJ I ran sway bar disco from Sky Jacker (thanks Greenreaper) and keep the front trac bar and had plenty of flex. Now I know yu can never have to much flex so the addition to the track bar disco would be nice, I am thinking there is not alot involved in fabing up a disco system on your current trac bar. Just a thought and if you did figure a way to do a home grown trac bar disco you would be a Jeepz Fab Hero to say the least. tug

TJs have tracbars and flex GREAT... don't think that the tracbar is gonna limit TOO much... i dont' really think would be worth the risk to keep the front off

yea the track bar really doesnt limit that much, and if your going to flex that much, that you think the track bar might be holding you back then i would go and start thinking about drive shafts and other things that might brake druing that much flex

If you take the old sway bar connectors off, you can turn them into disco's with a couple of cuts, some welds, a presto pin and you should be good. Cut the old one in half, then cut some pipe with the proper length and that the inside diameter fits the outside diameter of the pole part. Weld one side into the pipe.

Drill a couple holes: one in the other end of the pipe and one in the connector. line 'em up and pop in the pin. I think that might work. I've seen other connection types that replace the presto pin too. My $.02

Apparently no one read the disclaimer I out on the bottom of the original post except Tug

So it would be safe to assume, no one runs this mod.
There is a difference in articulation with and with out a trac bar on a YJ. Like I stated, I ran no trac bar for a while and there is a definate difference in the steering, and in the amount of droop the axle can have. I would say it was about another inch of droop.

No, I read the disclaimer  I was offering an opinion of what I knew. As it appears that's not possible, so I'll state that: No, I have no information as to the JKS Disco's.

I can't tell you anything about the JKS trac bar but from what I've heard, some brands of trac bar disconnects are a real pain to get hooked back up. Since your axle will shift side to side a little when your trac bar is disconnected, it will in turn put your steering wheel out of alignment. I've been told the easiest way to rehook the trac bar is to jack the front end up by the bumper and center your axle (when the steering wheel is straight), then lower it and reattach your trac bar. Apparantly, with some brands if your axle isn't perfectly centered, it's almost impossible to reattach the trac bar but I couldn't tell you if this is the issue with the JKS.
As for the added articulation with the trac bac disconnected, I notice a huge difference mainly because of my revolver shackles.

NO EXPERIENCE WITH THE JKS TRACKBAR. There's my disclaimer.

What I do know is it's no form of disconnect, but a sleeve that allows part of the track bar to slide into the other end. The bolt simply tightens this sleeve to keep it from sliding (extending and compressing). Easy to get back to the road, no lining up to do, simply tighten the bolt.

I've read that the track bar slips even with the bolt tightened as much as possible. To me it's not worth the $200 for an extra 1" of suspension travel.

I run the front track bar, but no rear track bar or front swaybar. I've tried without the front track bar and it really sucks with the front or rear locked, or both. Any locker will try to keep the jeep going forward, and steering input will simply push the axle sideways with no track bar to prevent this. The JKS trackbar will also allow this sloppy steering if you run a locker or two.

Another Brake problem please assist

Sorry, Was not the best of mornings. I appologize, I did not mean to be so short.

Not running lockers, so I like to keep the tires on the ground as much as possible. If the trac bar slips even when properly tightened, this is not a mod that I will try. I guess I will just stick to what I got till I can afford some lockers. Perhaps that money is better put there.

Hard Top Parts

I have a jks track bar disco on my 91 wrangler, and I must say unless you have the sway bar disco's its kinda of a waste of time, and requires drilling to mount the bottom of the trac bar to the axle housing, they recomend welding the top mount in but it comes with a crush sleave and new hardware if you cant have it welded. like stated if in use with sway bar disco's it will allow you wheel to stuff a lot. If I could redo it I would not have bought one but thats just me but if you have a lift then its great you dont have to use the trac bar relocation bracket which I am running into with my rear since I put the lift on. I hope this helps

Marc

I already run no rear trac bar and sway bar disco's, I had a home made front trac bar disco, but was a b*tch to drive with. I am not going to purchase it. Like stated before, I need to get lockers for the 8.8 I have going in.
