ok i got a dana 35 non c-clip. i am getting excessive axle shaft play on the passenger side. the shaft moves about 1/2 inch in and out of the axle tube. any ideas......

also where can a guy buy the inner seals for the axle......i have checked advance auto, autozone with no luck????

if you have the non-c-clip version of the dana 35 check the four bolts that hold the axle to the axle flange. look on the backside of the backing plate...you cant miss em..

if that isnt the problem i would replace the bearing and race on the side with play.

you might have to order the inner seals from somewhere like quadratec, they have pretty much anything to build a jeep that you could want, give them a call if you cant find any around your area

wow that was quick.......yeah the backing plate bolts are tight, that is the first thing i checked.........race?????

Race..the part that the bearing rolls in...generally if you have to replace a bearing you replace the race at the same time.

in your case once you pull the axle shaft you should see the race sitting inside the tube.

so i called the dealer and they said that it cant be the bearing, it has to be the c-clip. i tried to explain to him that my axle does not have a c-clip and he told me that there is only one type of dana 35 axle and it has a c-clip  ........i guess that i will just have to tear it apart and see whats up.

there are dana 35 without c-clips.....i got one in my backyard...lol....
i dont know what those guys at the stealerships are thinking half the time

if your backing plate is on tight... then you must have a loose bearing
