Dana 30 drum to disc

I have a 1976 CJ5 with drum brakes on all four wheels. The front axle is the one I am focusing on right now.

Can I use the knuckles out from any dana 30 ? Wrangler and older? The proportioning valve needs to be disc/drum. Does the master also need to be update to a disc/drum application?

Any guidance would be great.

Thank You

Knuckles on out are interchangeable with the CJ Dana 30. If you do find a donor axle, you will probably want to find one with 6 bolt lockout hubs so you can retain your hubs. Later on when the CJ7 went to widetrack, they threw on some weaker five bolt lockouts.

I don't know about the master cylinder, though. I would guess they are the same, but again, that's just a guess.

Get a disc/drum master cylinder and prop. valve. The drum setup maintains too much residual pressure in the line to work properly with disc brakes. Not to mention the discs require more fluid than the drum MC is designed to push.
