Cracked windshield

Heard a very loud strike to the windshield driving to work yesterday but couldn't locate the hit. Long, curved crack by the time I left work later.

Okay to calk Glass Doctors or some such "house call" place or better to go to the dealership for the care my baby needs?

It's always better to replace a windshield especially when its across. Out of warranty?,have you checked with your insurance for coverage?.

if he has full coverage it should be required that the insurance company replace it. id take it to a dealership if it's no cost to you...

You really should get it replaced. I know in some states a cracked windshield is a pretty expensive ticket, so why pay a fine then pay for the glass in the end anyway! Plus, a cracked windshield is a safety hazard. The glass is designed to do certain things in a crash, thats why it's called safety glass, and if it's cracked it's now lost some of it's structural integrity, making it easier for something bad to happen.
