I have recently bought a 95 Jeep Rio Grande (4 banger) and in only 2 weeks I have managed to be unlucky enough to have the engine blow:( Now I have a newly rebuilt Jasper engine and a cool 75000 mile warranty. This is all fine and dandy if something happens to the engine but what if next week I lose the transmission. Because I am not very mechanically inclined and a first time jeep owner could someone tell me what areas I should take a good look at and what types of preventive things I could do to make sure I don't have another disaster again soon. My jeep has 100,000 miles on it. I just got the diffs serviced but it appears the transfer case is leaking now. Is this something I should worry about right away. I don't plan on 4 wheeling anytime soon. Thanks for your help in advance. Tommie

By the way I payed 5000 for the jeep. Do you think I got ripped????[addsig]

W\ your transmission i would change the gear oil, never go wrong with fresh fluids they say use 75w-90 GL-5 gear oil but i use a 85W-90 GL5 durablend oil sythetic and natural based oils get the best of both worlds, as for your transfercase, i would go ahead and replace the rear seal, its simple because i guessing that where the leak is comming from, just drop your axil and pull it out of your transfer case when you pull it out of spline you will leak fluid out thats normal, replace your seal your transfer case takes I think dextron 2 ATF, top it off and that should be all your probs taken care of, I hope you have a manual because if you have an automatic then change the automatic trans, fluid and your filter, and i cant tell you the slightest thing about it. good luck[addsig]
