Computer 2001 Wrangler

2001 Jeep Wrangler died pulling off road. Tried to fire off and on. Noticed ALL gauges not working, radio, lights horn etc.

Would turn over, sounded like it would try to fire up. NO luck. Most people say it is computer. This one shows last programmed in 2006 . So many web sites to order and bad reports on them, one company even has 6 or more web sites and mostly complaints.

Has anybody ordered a rebuilt and it work out ok.

With gauges going out like that, did you check all of the grounds and the fuel pump relay. Check the obvious stuff first unless you have already done that.

Mechanic has supposedly done that. Thanks! any other suggestions would be welcome, almost ready to tow home and put it under the shade tree after the money I have spent.

A new ecm runs around 4 bills the last time I looked. But thats like 5 years ago. Give em a call. Doesnt hurt to ask.

Have you tried any wrecking yards in your area..

Yes, had 1, just wrecked on same side as computer, same motor/transmission, mileage a little different, did not help. My mechanic can't program to vin/mileage though, another shop wanted $125 to do it, salvage wanted me to pay $200 before programming and was afraid to take chance.

Wow, stuck between a rock and a hard place...

First verify it is the PCM. Not starting could be ign switch/ relay to a bad crank sensor.

Gauges have issues with the connection coming loose behind the dash.

There is a site that deals with PCM 's and run for $600 guaranteed. I dig it up if I could find it. Check Davies Jeep.

Also there are some tests you could do on the -PCM to verify its bad.
