Clunky

1995 Jeep Cherokee Country, 4.0, Auto., 4x4, 298,290 mis.

When I come to a stop, and then take my foot off of the brake, I get an audible and can also feel a clunk.
The more firm the stop, the stronger the clunk.

Rear brake adjustment, u-joint, rear differential? Which is it? And how can I determine which?

Get dirty and try to move the driveshafts by hand, looking for play in the ujoints. Get a flashlight and screwdriver to check the condition of control arm bushings and shock bushings. Also take a look at the upper mount on the swaybar endlinks.
