Check your air pressure

I had my Jeep at the dealer this week diagnosing a brake problem and part of what they did they tell me was to check the pressure in all the tires. Since I picked it up I thought it was riding kind of rough but just wrote it off to the rough roads, etc. I decided to check the pressure today and all 4 tires were 12.5 psi over the recommended pressure according to the door sticker. The sticker says 29 which is where I keep it and they had it at 41.5. This is the second time they've done this as well as every place I've gotten the oil changed.
Why don't these places check the door sticker?

I have no idea. Ther Local Ford dealer does the same thing to my work truck.
I have told them time after time... and it still happens

This practice is probably being directed by the dealership's attorney who no doubt followed Firestone tire issues a few years back. There, underinflation was noted as a possible cause of tire overheating leading to tire failure. The result has been to ignore the door pillar sticker recommendation and to go with the maximum pressure on the sidewall.

Sticker on the door is for factory tires and rims. They should not be going above that any way.The dealer is responsible if something to was occur at there recommended pressure not the garage.Personally i run the front at 30 and the rear at 28.seems to get me good gas mileage and good wear on the tire.
